A day in my life as a Finance Officer at Intellus Group

My day usually starts around 7:15 AM.

While a lot of my colleagues are still turning in bed or hitting the snooze button, I am already cleaning out my mailbox. “The early bird catches the worm”

Printing purchase invoices (yes, some things are still old school), preparing payments, processing bank transactions, keeping the project records up to date in Harvest (a time tracking end invoicing tool) are a few daily tasks.

Preparing for the closing month/year is like a financial puzzle where every piece must fit. And believe me, when all the accounts balance, it gives a real sense of victory.

Everything needs to be accurate; that’s my goal.

Starting the invoice process is the most exciting moment of the month, especially when the consultants haven’t filled in their time sheets correctly or they suddenly change their time sheets once the invoices are already issued. It then takes skill to stay calm.

Sending invoices via Peppol (Pan-European Public Procurement OnLine) has been a challenge in recent months. As of 1 January 2026, this will become mandatory, and the set-up does not always run smoothly. However, through teamwork, we are confident that this will be successful in the end.

My job may seem boring with little personal contact, but nothing could be further from the truth. Every day, consultants and managers drop by to grab the coffee card or to give a bit more background on their projects. Before you know it, you’re in the middle of a friendly chat.

Some people ask me how I have managed to do all this number-crunching for over 30 years. Honestly, it is a kind of passion for me. Ok, it is not all glamour and fancy spreadsheets, but I truly love what I do, and I wouldn’t give it up for anything else.

At Intellus Group, with a growing team of more than 130 consultants delivering data, analytics and AI projects every day, a strong finance backbone is essential. Behind the scenes, we make sure projects are tracked correctly, invoices are accurate, regulations are followed, and everything runs smoothly so our consultants can focus on what they do best for our clients.

Behind every project and every consultant, there is a finance team making sure things add up. It may not always be visible, but it is a crucial part of keeping the organisation healthy and moving forward. And that is exactly why I am proud to be part of the finance team at Intellus Group.
