Aluminium Duffel: Unifying manufacturing data into a scalable, governed data platform

Microsoft Fabric

Power BI

Azure

Aluminium Duffel is a leading producer of rolled aluminium products used in automotive and industrial applications. Headquartered in Belgium, the company focuses on innovation, sustainability, and operational efficiency throughout its manufacturing and supply chain processes.

The challenge

Data was scattered across multiple on-premise and cloud systems such as Oracle MIW, IBM DB2, SAP ECC, Oktow and Excel.

Reports for the foundries (“Gieterij”) were manually built in Excel, leading to long creation times, data silos and limited quality control.

To improve data availability and consistency across departments a unified, secure and automated platform was needed.

Our solution

A modern data platform in Microsoft Fabric was implemented using the Lytix lakehouse ETL framework.

Data from all sources is automatically ingested through Fabric pipelines and on-premises gateways, processed with PySpark and SQL, and stored securely in OneLake.

Power BI semantic models and reports were created to deliver actionable insights, supported by governance with Entra ID, Azure Key Vault, and DevOps CI/CD.

The business value

The platform provides one single source of truth for reporting across departments.

Reduced manual work through automation and quality checks.

Faster and more reliable insights on production and energy efficiency.

The architecture is scalable for future IoT and sensor-data scenarios and compliant with TISAX and ISO 27001, ensuring a secure and sustainable data foundation.
