The challenge

At ENGIE, the shift towards a self-service, business-driven data environment brought new challenges as the amount of data models and BI requests grew.

The existing governance model required a review to address issues like the duplication of data models.

This led to:

  • loss of a guaranteed single source of truth

Solving this became essential to ensure reliable and streamlined data-driven decision-making.

Collaborative workshops with Engie’s data squads to gain a clear understanding of the current setup & challenges.

Agile implementation using Azure DevOps.

Improved best practice usage:

  • improved Layered Modelling approach
  • best practice guidelines for SAP HANA Calculation Views

Implemented a Governance & Data Lineage tool using SAP ECC, SAP BW, SAP HANA and SAS metadata tables, which were modeled in SAP HANA.
