Spadel is a market-leading mineral water company in the Benelux, producing well-known brands like Spa and Bru. The company focuses on regionally anchored brands, ecological production, and protecting the territory of its natural springs.

The challenge

  • Spadel used analytics across the organization, but lacked an integrated analytical strategy — data and insights were siloed.
  • Reporting tools were complex and time-consuming (IBM Cognos), limiting user adoption and agility.
  • The company aimed to evolve into an analytical, data-driven organization capable of real-time decision-making.
  • Needed a centralized data foundation integrating multiple sources (SAP and non-SAP) to eliminate inefficiencies and redundancies.

Our solution

  • Implemented a greenfield SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC) and SAP BW/4HANA architecture across all major departments (Marketing, Sales, Production, Logistics, Finance, Purchasing, Quality & Environment).
  • Created a centralized data warehouse to consolidate and harmonize data from all systems.
  • Introduced self-service analytics and dashboards for easier, visual, and real-time reporting.
  • Engaged business users early and continuously, ensuring high adoption through training and agile implementation (9 sprints).
  • Established a robust governance model for continuous analytics maturity and IT-business collaboration.

The business value

  • 10% increase in user adoption compared to legacy Cognos system.
  • Enhanced self-service reporting and dashboarding — faster insights, improved report quality, and easier access for business users.
  • Reduced IT maintenance and development time (1–2 days per month saved).
  • Future-proof, scalable cloud solution supporting big data, AI, and advanced analytics.
  • Strengthened collaboration between IT and business, fostering a truly analytical culture at Spadel.
