Lantis, formerly known as BAM (Beheersmaatschappij Antwerpen Mobiel), is responsible for improving mobility and livability in and around Antwerp. Established in 2002 by the Flemish government, its main goal was to reduce traffic congestion, improve road safety, and promote sustainable transport options. In 2019, BAM rebranded as Lantis (Leefbaar Antwerpen door Innovatie en Samenwerking), reflecting a broader mission to create a more connected and livable city.
The challenge
Data integration:
- Provide a structured approach to an expanding data environment with multiple sources and a wide variation of reporting and analytical use cases
Near real-time dataprocessing:
- To enhance operational efficiency and timely decision-making, near real-time data processing is required
Maintainability:
- Lantis is not a softwarehouse, so minimal inhouse development is required. A structured approach that can be handover to Lantis is needed.
Our solution
Data Platform in Microsoft Fabric.
Standardization with an ETL framework.
Use cases in traffic monitoring:
- Processing near real-time traffic information
- Alerting and visualizing the traffic situation around construction sites
Availability of low and no-code tools for Lantis internal team.
Low maintenance framework andETL flow.
The business value
A data platform has been set-up that supports the overall Lantis data strategy:
- Near real-time insights into the traffic situation. Actions can be done with up-to-date information.
- A structured ingestion andETL approach is setup to reduce maintenance cost.
- The platform is cloud-based and scales to meet the further needs of Lantis.
